The BNP on Wednesday protested Tuesday's High Court verdict on Col Taher trial
and execution and announced countrywide demonstration programme for Thursday.
"The whole nation is disappointed and astonished over the verdict. This is the
result of a deep conspiracy and ill-motivated politically," Mirza Fakhrul Islam
Alamgir, BNP's acting secretary general, told reporters after a meeting at the
party's Naya Paltan central office at noon.
Taher attempted to destroy the army by creating Gonobahini and anarchy in the
army, he said, adding that Ziaur Rahman foiled the conspiracy and thus saved the
army and as well as the country.
