Subject: BRC STUDENTS' ROWING CHAMPIONSHIP 2011

We are glad to inform you that the 10th edition of "BRC Students' Rowing Championship", will be organized by The Bengal Rowing Club, Rabindra Sarobar, Kolkata from the 22nd May to 29th May 2011.

This inter school championship event is very popular among the top schools of the city, as it not only offers an excellent opportunity to exhibit one's passion for the sport but also brings together students from leading schools of Kolkata. With the objective to encourage today's youth to participate in this Olympic sport, BRC pioneered the regatta in 2002, and since then participation has grown from 28 schools to 50 schools, with well over 400 students actively competing for the Titles. Schools from other Indian states, as well as neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Pakistan and UAE, have participated in the past years.

BRC has been a founder member of The West Bengal Rowing Association affiliated to the Rowing Federation of India. The club has also been actively supporting merited and needy rowers by offering them educational scholarships.

Top schools of Kolkata, the likes of La Martiniere for Boys & for Girls, Don Bosco, St. Xaviers, Mordern High School for Girls, St. Thomas, Our Lady Queen of the Missions, Mahadevi Birla, Ashok Hall, Birla High, South Point, St James, Pratt Memorial, Carmel, Julien Day etc. just to name a few, have been actively participating in the Championships. This year invitations have been sent out to more than 125 schools and we are expecting a larger participation. The students are provided with two months of training at BRC at no costs.

The event has seen huge support from Sponsors, Media partners, nationwide coverage & publicity. The Inauguration Ceremony, cultural programs, movie shows, karaoke singing competitions, a gala Prize distribution ceremony and The DJ Nite, has humongous footfall in the presence of Celebrities & Senior members from various walks. In fact Doordarshan & NDTV have also documented the event.
