BHARAT BACHAO ANDOLAN
RAZA ACADEMY & AWAMI BHARAT
PEACEFUL PROTEST AT THE ISRAELI CONSULATE AGAINST THE REGIMES'  DECISION
TO BAN THE AZAAN FROM THE MOSQUES IN PALESTINE OVER LOUDSPEAKERS.
VENUE: ISRAELI CONSULATE, NEAR NCPA, NARIMAN PT, MARINE DRIVE, MUMBAI - INDIA
DATE: 20TH DEC '11 - TIME: 2.30PM

We the citizens of India are extremely perturbed at the newspaper reports that state that: "Mr Netanyahu backs law to ban loudspeakers at mosques", 'There's no need to be more liberal than Europe,'  "PM says of move that would ban loudspeakers in calls to prayer." We demand that the Palestinian people, who are suffering due to the occupation of their nation, be given their freedom & right to pray & to the Azan as well. This campaign unleashed by the extreme right-wing party Yisrael Beiteinu, in the bill the so-called Muezzin Law, proposed by MK Anastassia Michaeli  is another glaring example of the apartheid-racist & Zionist nature of the Israeli regime. The point is that this law targets only mosques & in any case if its a matter of controlling noise pollution, the required laws already exist in Israel.

Moreover now there are a spate of regular reports emanating from Palestine of a series of attacks by fanatical Settlers in the West Bank & Jerusalem, where they attack & burn down both Mosques & Churches, as well as other historical sites, that are universal to the human heritage. There are 27 documented attacks on mosques in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem carried out by Israeli settlers. According to statistics collated by Palestinian sources, in 2010 nine mosques in the West Bank and Jerusalem were attacked by settlers and three were attacked by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF). In some cases, the IOF stormed the mosques before allowing extremist settlers to enter, looting and causing damage to furniture, the structure and holy books. Also Israel destroyed 41 Mosques during its 23-day assault on the Gaza Strip, the Ministry of Waqf and Religious Affairs in the de facto government reported. The ministry reports that the 16 Mosques were destroyed in Gaza City, and 19 in the area north of Gaza City. Some of the Mosques were shelled while they were full of worshipers at prayer. Worse, we are also aware of the ongoing Zionist plans for the destruction of the Masjid-al-Aqsa & the Dome of the Rock, the weakening of the foundations under the pretext of archaeological excavation & we condemn the same.

Here the world can see a systematic campaign of genocide & ethnic-cleansing of an entire nation, a people & their culture. The ongoing Judaisation of Jerusalem & of all of historic Palestine is a clear strategic decision & game plan of the Zionist regime. We thus demand that the Israeli regime desist & refrain from the above nefarious plans. We the people of India, are committed to a just & peaceful solution, whereby both the Palestinian & Jewish people live in peace. We also demand that the Israeli regime - "End the Siege of Gaza", reaffirm the "Right of Return", Dismantle the Settlements & the Apartheid Wall, End the Occupation & demand the end of genocidal violence & the wars & negotiate a just peace.

In Solidarity with the People of the World who stand for Democracy, Freedom & Justice.
