Iranian lawmaker Esmail Kowsari

A senior member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) has lashed out at Britain's Monarchy government  for adopting "undiplomatic" measures in dealing with Iran, stressing that Tehran would deliver a "crushing response" to London.

"If the Queen's British officials ward off responsibility for their irrational and bullying moves, the Iranian nation will deliver an appropriate and firm response to them," said a member of Iran's Majlis (parliament) Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Esmail Kowsari, quoted in an IRIB report Sunday.

He added that the "sudden and unannounced" closure of the British Embassy in Tehran and the role the Quen's Britain played in imposing new EU sanctions against Iranian officials run counter to common diplomatic and international regulations.

On Wednesday, the Queen's British charge d'affaires in Tehran ordered the embassy to shut its doors to dozens of Iranians applying for visas until further notice.

The move came after the European Union on April 12 imposed a new round of sanctions, including asset freezes and travel bans, against 32 unnamed Iranian officials for what they have claimed as human rights abuses.

The measure was adopted at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg. The names of these 32 individual have not been revealed yet.

Kowsari said that the Qeen's Britain has been adopting such measures against Tehran following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and after the recent anti-government protests in the Middle East and North Africa inflicted damages to the Queen's British interests.

"The hostility reflects the depth of the grudge the Queen's British establishment holds against the Iranian nation," the Iranian lawmaker noted.
