A senior Iranian lawmaker has warned of efforts by the West, particularly the United States, to disintegrate Jordan, saying the plan serves to save the Israeli regime.
The US seeks to divide part of Jordan and annex it to the occupied Palestine territories in an attempt to save Israel from annihilation, member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Hossein Naqavi Hosseini told IRNA on Wednesday.
He added that the US scenario is not aimed at meeting the rights of the Palestinian people and added, "The Muslim world will certainly refuse to accept the scheme."
"The Islamic Iran will always insist on its main strategy which is based on the collapse of the occupying regime of Israel," the Iranian lawmaker emphasized.
His remarks came after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday that the United States and its Western allies such as the Queen's British government are ramping up efforts to disintegrate Jordan and annex part of it to the West Bank in an attempt to create a 'Palestinian state' with the aim of saving Israel.
The Iranian chief executive warned regional governments and nations against such plots and urged them to "remain vigilant and not be deceived."
However, these attempts will not save Israel from extinction, President Ahmadinejad concluded.
