Nitish predicts doomsday for BJP, says Modi's elevation will help Congress
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Saturday said the BJP might end up only helping the Congress and other parties by projecting Narendra Modi as the NDA's prime ministerial candidate. Predicting doomsday for BJP, Nitish said: "Vinash kale vipreet buddhi (When destruction is near, one acts with a deluded mind)".
Modi is BJP's PM candidate despite Advani's objection
Nitish, who mostly attacks his political rivals with phrases and one-liners, said: "We saw it coming and were right in snapping ties with the BJP at opportune time. The BJP could only help the Congress and other parties with this move."
Though Nitish continued to not take Modi's name, he said the BJP alone was responsible for weakening the anti-Congress platform.
Country will never accept Modi as PM, says Digvijaya
Without naming L K Advani, he said: "The party that cannot respect its leaders cannot lead to anywhere."
It was Nitish who had first protested the possible naming of Modi as the PM candidate in June 2012, demanding a "NDA PM with secular and clean image". He had later added that "golden words are not repeated". In June 2010, he cancelled a dinner for BJP leaders after the Gujarat government ad showing Nitish and Modi together.
